From the looks of the counter on this page, it would appear that many alumni have visited the site. Let's use this post as a "GUESTBOOK" to check in. Anyone can leave a comment.
You could leave your email if you like, but you don't have to. It would be nice to hear from everyone and use this space as a meeting place, just to catch up on where we are today.
If you have stories from your days at WECB, now's the time to post them.
Thanks,
Greg Weremey

It's on my calendar...I went to our 20th last year and was blown away by the facilities, too...it'd be nice to catch up with the WECB clan!
I'll probably beam in for the day...so keep me posted...

It's a blast from the past just to see all the names in the "To:" list!
BTW... Where do we pick up tickets for the "20th Anniversary Reunion Edition of the BenDozer Show?"
See y'all there,

Hey Everyone!
Long time no see!! I hope everyone has been well.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend since I am now 3,000 miles away in beautiful, rainy Portland, OR, but I will definitely be there in spirit. It's been a long time since I hit the post.... ;)
I looked at Emerson's site and it just simply amazes me how different (and nice) the campus is. Thank God they didn't leave Boston. But holy cow - Fensgate is now a condo: http://www.stevensakata.com/bos02.html !!
I hope you all have a wonderful time and thanks, Greg, for bringing everyone together. I will miss being there. :)
Much Love,

Hey folks….nice to see the electronic highway speed up with interest in
Renewing old friendships and getting renewed about Emerson.
It’s been awhile for me since 1978-1980.
ThanX to those who are taking the time to create a memorable weekend.
I believe in my archives somewhere I have photos and some interesting items from the days
when I was part of the New Rock 640. I will share accordingly once I find them.
Speaking of which…has anyone heard from Jack Kratoville?
With that, hoping that these words find you and yours well.
From this side of Boylston…see you soon; at least before the next solar eclipse.
Regards,
Kevin M. McNally
Hi All,
It was great to receive an official WECB memo after all these years. I'm going to do my darndest to make it to the reunion even though I live in LA (so do you Ben). I haven't been to Boston since the "Big Dig" commenced...isn't it still going? I would love to see Emerson, any WECB folks and anyone else I went to school with. I've been in LA since August 1988 and I'm basically doing the same thing as at Emerson, mixing audio for TV shows (except the TV part). I'm a sounddweeb...look at my email address. I listen to lots of radio but don't work in it, but I am working doing sound and I learned everything I needed to know at WECB.."Up is louder!" Talk to you soon.
Larry Benjamin
Hello!
You know, I had a radio show for 3 semesters on WECB, from 1988-1989 (spring/fall/srping) (when I graduated)! In addition to DJing, I was the Traffic Manager (doin' the logs!!) my final semester at Emerson.
I have FOND memories of WECB!! (Like the really OLD board in the room just outside of the studio being the one in "La Bamba"--yes, i know its a joke) My shifts were Saturday nights, from 12-3am. My buddies and I had a GREAT time--you should hear our airchecks! Then, again, maybe you shouldnt--there was NO mgmt around, in fact NO ONE around except me and about 10 of my very good buddies. We had the BEST time and yes, we took everything seriously! I learned a lot and I just had fun--thats what music is, right?
I rememeber Russ--but I was only a little Freshman back then--I hung out w/ a lot of upperclassmen...he wouldnt remember me!
Oh well, knowing its WECB's anniversary almost makes me want to come to the reunion just for that! It will be the first one since I graduated 18 yrs ago! I know a lot has changed since then, but Im still nostalgic for Fensgate, the wall and Kenmore Square. I think Emerson has gotten too citified being in the Theater district.
Well, enough skipping down memory lane. Its been fun! Perhaps I can get my hubby to make a trip to Boston with me in June! (We love Boston and visit frequently!)
Take care!

Hey all you fellow WECB'ers
Frank DeAngelis here(ECB 86-92/GM '90-'91 and everything else in between) walking down Beacon St to get to my show because I missed the flippin' shuttle...
Ah yes...'ECB. We all remember it well. The sauna that was the 4th floor studio, having to go past WERS (and their swank facilities) to get up to our studio, reel to reel machines from the 1950's, carts, 45's, the overheating board..."It smells like, Victory..." These and many more memories are yours if you were around in my extended era '86-'92.
Here's a shout out to the staff from the late 80's and early 90's. Paul Delaney, Mike Manley, Nika Desautel, Chrissy Gallaster, Nicole Dalessio, Maureen Kane, Keith Shields, Paul Chapman, Scott LaLiberte and Steve Welch just to name a few.
As a freshman it was fantastic to be able to jump right in, be on air, and use all of the equipment to create whatever we wanted. I don't know of many more college stations that actually had a traffic report from it's own hellicopter...but we did. Although I don't think I'll let Paul Delaney fly the thing again. We were proud that we were one of the only college commercial stations around and did our best to keep the funding going. I never stepped into the Scientology building, but was happy to take their money. I believe it was $50 for unlimited spots in one semester.
Some of the older alumnae (Jumpin James Simon, Dave Ozer, Stella Mars) set the stage for WECB to be on the edge of progressive rock and we continued that tradition by scooping WFNX on a regular basis. "The The", "The Spoons", and "Midnight Oil" were all heard on WECB first. THAT is college radio at it's finest.
I still keep in touch with many of the 'ECB crew. In fact, Paul Delaney was in my wedding last June. It's mind boggling to think that it's been over 20 years since I met Paul on a bleary eyed Sunday morning at WECB. I had the 6-9 shift and he had the 9-Noon. Little did the management know at the time that that was a huge mistake putting our shows back to back. Debauchery ensued in the following weeks and a lifelong friendship was solidified.
I am still doing sound although no longer in radio, much like Larry Benjamin. I did my time in Los Angeles (6 years)doing studio, field mixing and some editing in the film and television industries. I'm now back in Boston doing the same thing but liking where I live a whole lot more. "Boston, you're my home..." Emerson gave me the basics to succeed and I went from there. It's nice to know that Emerson, and WECB for that matter, are still around. I can only dream that if I had the toys of today when I was at Emerson what havoc I could have wrought. But that's a story for another time. Hope to see some of the gang during the reunion!

Hello!
What a nice surprise to see e-mails from you all!
I don't think I will be able to make it to Boston this summer, but I can't wait to hear all about it via cyberspace. I hope those who are there can document the festivities!
I've been living in Los Angeles since graduation. Never ventured into the radio arena, but into TV instead. Started as a secretary on "Wings" and made my way up to the Associate Producer position. From there I stayed in post production, doing various shows including "The X Files" and most recently the comedy "Girlfriends." Currently I am staying at home since my first daughter in kindergarten and my second child (also a girl) is 6 months old. That keeps me plenty busy!
Keep in touch,

"I be peakin' in the red, there! Tooooo much!!!!" Been a long time since I've heard from the motley crew that was the mid-80's WECB-AM. I got a small sample when I was fortunate to meet Russ & Greg on Long Island a few years ago. While I miss the"Jumpin James" era (and thank you Frank D for the shout out!), I'm happy working in my first love, the stage. I'm working in a production office putting out hit shows like "Grey Gardens" on Broadway. I'm certainly going to try to make it in June, though I'll "miss" the three-story climb up old homestead on Beacon Street. I hope I won't spend the weekend screaming, "Y'know, back in MY day, we didn't have CD players", etc!

Well.... I guess I am remiss in not getting my "guestbook checkin'" in earlier. Let's see... how did I start those memos?...

RE: WECB 60th Reunion
Yea... that's how the beginnings of my memo's went. Who would have figured that I'd be most remembered for those darn memos?!!! Ah... legacy.... the "memo king"...
Anywho... I'll be at the reunion on June 2nd. Actually the "special luncheon reunion".
And I have a feeling that unlike Jumpin' James who won't be saying "Back when I was at WECB..." I on the other hand will engage in "you know.. we actually had to take a grease pencil and make a mark right on the HEAD of the audio tape recorder then CUT the tape with a razor and SPLICE it with splicing tape... now you kids can do all that with a computer!"... damn I feel old all of a sudden.
But, you know... there's really nothing like going to Fil K. and saying, "you know, we need to create a music bed with lyrics that involve ______, can you do that?" and then having Fil just use his brain and go into the music library and pull a bunch of albums and grab the cuts..... all this knowlege right in Fil's brain!! Now *THAT* was what had me in awe.
Ok... just like my memos, this blog entry is TOO LONG... see everyone on June 2nd.

How exciting! WECB is having a reunion party! Count me in!
What have I been up to these days? I started a blog in 2005 called Outside In (http://journals.aol.com/yechristian/OutsideIn/).
One of my entries got quoted in the back of a book about autism called "Ten Things Every Child With Autism Wishes You Knew" by Ellen Notbohm, which came out in the fall of 2005 (click the link that says "Outside In's Published Quote" in the Favorite Sites section of my blog).
I'm also a contributor at a writers forum called Gather. I have a few articles up there at http://www.yechristian.gather.com/.
During the 1990s, I helped a DJ called Melissa out on the weekends with her show at WBCN in Boston. I left WBCN in 2000. I keep in touch with Charles Laquidara at his blog called The Big Mattress (http://www.bigmattress.com/weblog/).
See you all in June!
